Rains in Africa

Showing some ethnic pride today and being inspired by tribal themes from africa.  Shout outs to my royal famoly in Ghana! Check out this funky little bracelet made with African glass beads.  Vanessa Mooney is one of my new loves, she is so bright/colorful and makes pretty gypsy jewelry

Stay Golden

I'm gonna have to go with LOVE when it comes to big ass gold jewelry. Do the Right Thing when it comes to wearing it this summer!

Golden summer skin calls for golden summer jewelry.  It can be in a variety of different shades and styles but it is always acceptable!  I prefer gold to silver hands down, it's an ancient fashion statement, crisp, classic, a symbol for first place, a representation of wealth and pride, and the color of glittery sand and suntanned beach boys... some winning qualities.

I buy all the jewelry i never want to take off in gold, so this simple, thin zodiac bangles from Free People is perfecto

Gold pairs well with, surprise, more gold! pictured here, Luca Luca Fall RTW.  That necklace would look good over anything and can be formal or casual so i'd call it an ideal statement making staple

I like this in between necklace length, here is one by Gorjana at shopbop

Pretty gold necklace paired with black and brown for Milly (F11RTW).  Gold goes with both and unites this outfit, it's the peacemaker!  I feel bad for hating her hat though

Milly golden petal necklace available at Neiman's, soooo pretty princess

I have way to much love for cuff bracelets to stuff into this post, but this is the favorite look.  Super understated sleek black with two toned gold/brassy cuff set is instant urban chic.  This is Vena Cava Fall RTW, and the metallic eye shadow is another pretty technique to glam yourself out in the cityyy

Love this house of harlow cuff with arrow cutout!

also love this Dannijo cuff, for a cool 500 bucks
Looooong earrings are an unstoppable force right now.  Kill two trendy birds with one edgy stone and wear some long, gold earrings!  This is an eco-friendly pair by Alkemie Jewelry shaped like peacock feathers.  Urban outfitters also has these snake drop earrings.  Feathers, leaves, animals and other nature related shapes are really big right now which makes them easy to find

Stay Golden, Ponyboy

Hard Core Wrappers

Love to see some experimentation with typical jewelry materials liiiike bright colored trade beads and fun textured fabrics with tropical beachy soul sister flare. loved this amazing image compilation from the Dannijo blog... if i had ten grand to spend per jewelry shopping spree, my cash would all funnel directly into Dannijo's revenue because they. are. the. best.
these friendship bracelets are epic. they say and add so much but are still the most simple, understated and girly bracelets ever, and these ones are (only) $48!

fabric wrap bracelets are one of the coooolest looks that channel the foreign exotic and remind me of gypsy travelers.  plus, they are a shortcut way to achieve the wrists-completely-covered-in-pretty-summer-jewelry thaaang.  perfecto beach wear that is just as hot and wearable in the falll
(this pretty purple cord wrap is from from Shopbop, bonus that it can be a tummy length necklace)

ehh on this outfit but yay! for the Free People lookbook in general and especially for these hot leather wrap bracelets!  Also feeling these looong beaded pendent necklaces.

i'm taking a local leather wrapping class with my mom this summer, and my favorite part is that there are so many ways to play around with color. loving this green jungle color scheme Ania bracelet from Free People by serafina

And i also die for this orange wrap bracelet again by serafina that is on sale at Karmaloop.  this color is huge right now but also as a fall staple in general and is noticeable to say the least.

Plus, this beautiful orange color is the same saffron that Buddhist monks wear, and can be super relaxing

i cannot say enough about how much i love Energy Muse! they have some ahh-mazing crystal wraps to promote things like physical and emotional heath, consiousness, warding off bad energy, etc.  I love this Connect Bracelet that they designed with nonprofit Growing Great to encourage you to stay connected to nature and to eat healthy foods!
another cool thing about energy muse is the way that they treat their jewelry before it gets to you.
"Each piece is purified, aligned, and activated in a sacred healing room for 48 hours.  The room vibrated with sound, light, and sacred geometry."

and along the lies of bright semi weird fall colored jewelry, love this mustard rope like bracelet and this awesome black and red wrap with chains and beads, both from Topshop.

Topshop also has this earthy set of wrapped bangles in golden fall colors. i'd wear something like this on my next moroccan yoga retreat.....

so, as many necklaces as there are in this crazy world there is one thing every single one has in common- they go around your neck! but Ashley Olsen doesn't take this for granted and once again i am stunned by her GENIUS and ingenuity with this necklace/shoulder strap look! she rocked it three times last week!
(pics from star style)

is there some invisible messenger bag hanging from it that i don't know about? so cute
annnnd, i superlove Ashley's beautiful, large and in charge eyebrows! they are legitimately bushy and scream quirky confidence... or at least justify unruly brows everywhere

until next time! go get wrapped up in your jewelry!

La Vie en nOir

New York magazine has an awesome section of jewelry finds from around NYC.  Looked through it today and these pretty pieces stood out to me

chunky, bold, and classy garter bracelet from House of Harlow (from summer '10 but still available and adorable)
This necklace by Tuleste Market makes a statement with its geometric-ish color blocking. reminds me of a minimalist Cleopatra!

this necklace is so awesome i can't even deal... which seems to be a trend for nOir Jewelry, which has potential to become my absolute favorite jewelry company ever. i'm in love! tribal meets graphic print meets color block meets miamocha:
And here are some other mind blowingly sick pieces from nOir Jewelry that are totally fun and funky:
this is part of nOir for DC comics gotham city ring... does it get any more badass? and the second one is a barbie dream house ring from nOir for Mattel, (that opens up to reveal golden interior!!!) what a combo!
Ring styles include a range from russian babushka dolls to pink elephants and a ton of other unique ideas
dying for this awesome barbie charm necklace with all charms available separately!
getting rebel mermaid vibes from this pretty, gunmetal colored siren tail bracelet
i'm also lovin this over the top knot necklace, just cause..
nOir jewelry also has a great selection of things that aren't so over the top, but i'm totally drawn to their out of the box ideas.  Worth checking out for anyone thats interested in barbie, superheroes, the jungles of africa, and everything in between.
also, some huge news in the world of jewelry: all of my jewelry will be listed on etsy within the next couple of days! its a pretty major story.. and here are some preview picssss

Meet MiaMocha!

that's me!
(yes, being a divafreak)

Welcome to my blog! Here I will highlight some of my favorites in art, music, culture, but mostly in jewelry!  I love styles that are girly, futuristic, expressive, bold, eco-friendly, and positive!  I want to spread a message of positive energy, individuality, and peace.  I am always looking for jewelry and other items that have spiritual and cultural qualities, or are just interesting and funky and give me good vibes.
This summer I wanted to start selling my designs.  Cue Etsy, the one stop place for all things vintage or handmade.  I love island culture, and in the spirit of the (almost unbearable) warm weather we've been having, these are some of my favorite Island life Etsy findsss!

Um this makes me want to dance just to hear that island jingle.. beads are made out of seeds, this is so DIY native style, hot

Cutest thing ever! I bet mermaids wear jewelry like this!

perfect topper for the coffee table at my surf shanty.....

love this island spin on the totally versatile and classic combo

And my own wooden beaded bracelets, available soon on etsy!

Who am I?

I think Jimi Hendrix is my father, i hate not living on an island, and i love things that are too expensive to be practical. Oh, and I'm also a jewelry designer and college student. Check out my designs at http://www.etsy.com/shop/MiaMocha
